Medicinal Value of Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil – Antiseptic, anti toxic, astringent, bactericidal, diuretic, stimulant-lymphatic, general tonic.
Historically Used For – Uplifting the spirits, euphoric, Cleansing, anti toxic, Astringent, diuretic, eases water retention, bactericidal, environmental disinfectant, general tonic, liver tonic, stimulates the lymphatic system, increases circulation, chills, cold, flu, eases muscle fatigue and stiffness. Topically for the skin it has been reportedly used for acne, athlete’s foot, oily skin, hair growth, to tighten skin, weight loss (not proven), appetite control (not proven), to get rid of cellulite (not proven) and tone congested skin.
Caution- Pink Grapefruit has known drug and herb interactions with internal consumption of Pink Grapefruit. It has been reported that Pink Grapefruit can increase the effects of some medications. Citrus Oils can be Phototoxic causing the skin to be more sensitive to the sun and increase your chance of sunburn with prolonged sun exposure. Research suggests that one should wait 12 hours for prolonged sun exposure after application of citrus oils to your skin.
