Some of the historic uses and ingredient qualities of our ingredient list……..
Cucumbers cooling qualities are historically said to reduce swelling and the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. Cucumbers contain ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and caffeic acid which are both reported to help soothe skin irritations while reducing swelling and these ingredients are known to prevent water retention (why they would work for puffy eyes).
Chamomile has also been used for these reasons but is also said to help relieve eye fatigue.
Borage oil is said to help regenerate new skin cells. Rose Hip oil is rich in Essential Fatty Acids which are said to improve skin elasticity.
Cranberry Seed Oil contains a significant amount of Vitamin A, easily penetrates the skin, is rich in Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Vitamin E (this oil is FANTASTIC for dry, itchy skin, psoriasis and eczema).
Carrot oil is RICH in Beta Carotene, Vitamin A, Vitamin E and pro-vitamin A.
Evening Primrose Oil is high in essential fatty acid known as gamma-linolenic acid. These acids are not produced by themselves within the human body but are necessary to help our bodies fight inflammation and infection. It’s also said that these fatty acids also help balance impulse control within the limbic region of the brain. This makes obtaining these nutrients through diet and topical application very important. As a topical oil, Evening Primrose oil is very nourishing for the skin.
Apricot Kernal Oil is a gentle emollient oil that is high in oleic and linoleic acids. It’s easily absorbed into the skin and makes a lovely massage oil. It’s recommended for sensitive skin, inflamed skin, mature skin babies and for a massage oil.
Olive Oil is high in oleic acid, is a good cell regenerator for the skin and has been used for centuries in body creams, face creams, soaps, cooking and baking. That amazing Olive Oil can pull/absorb moisture into the skin while still allowing the pores to effectively release sweat, sebum and shed dead skin cells from your body. This makes Olive Oil a perfect massage oil and also helps to reduce inflammation.
Bees Wax is historically known to be an antiseptic and a wound healer. It’s also used as an emulsifier, is a humectant, it has soothing and softening properties that can help the skin retain moisture.
These are just some of the amazing qualities of the ingredients we use. For some excellent sources to research more about ingredients you can look at these amazing sources.
